Eternity is what God inhabits beyond time.[1] Before God created time, God was.[2]Before time, was eternity. When time ceases in our experience, and our body dies, our spirits leave time and enter eternity,[3] that state where time does not exist.
Time is material, and relative to space and matter. The universe, the earth, our bodies, exist in time. But God is spirit;[4] He is not material, and is not dependant upon or bound by space or time.[5] When we die and our spirits are freed from our physical bodies, we will also leave space and time; we will enter eternity.
But will we occupy eternity in God’s presence or condemned to the lake of fire,[6] that place of eternal judgement[7] separated from God for eternity?
Jesus told His disciples that not everyone who says to Him, “Lord, Lord” will enter His kingdom, but only those who do the will of His father in heaven.[8] The Father’s will is that we have faith in Christ Jesus, the One Whom He sent.[9] To the rest, Christ will declare, “Depart from me; I never knew you”[10] and they will be banished to everlasting darkness prepared for the devil and his angels.[11]
Have you given thought to eternity? Will you inhabit eternity in God’s presence or be banished to outer darkness with the rebellious? Do you know and have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ? There is no better time to consider than right now.[12]
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes on Him should not perish, but have everlasting life …. He who believes on Him is not condemned, but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not had faith in the name of only begotten Son of God.” John 3:16, 18
