The Gospel – The Good News – The Message of Salvation from God to men, by God of men, to God for men. The angels announced that the birth of Jesus Christ was ‘good news for all people’, because unto ‘all people’ was born that day a Saviour Who would reconcile sinful men to God and free us from the condemnation of our sin, which was death. What a wonderful Saviour! What exceptional, good news!

What is a Christian?

A Christian is someone who, coming to know God, and recognizing themselves to have rebelled against God, either by a lack of faith in God or by choices that oppose His perfect righteousness, rejects sin for its opposition against God, and exercises faith in God.

God Who, in the person of Jesus Christ has paid the penalty of our sin by Christ’s death on the cross, brings the transaction to completion by applying that payment to our account. We who turn from sin to God will by faith in Jesus Christ and His death for our sins, receive the benefit of it – our sentence commuted so we may have eternal life.

Upon God’s application of Christ’s death to the payment of our sentence, He also restores us to fellowship with Himself by providing the Holy Spirit, so that by His continual presence w...

What Do You Have to Know to Be A Christian?

Do you have to get everything right to be a Christian? No, but there are some things you cannot get wrong and still be a Christian. For instance, you must believe in God in order to be a Christian. But you can’t believe in just any god. You must believe in the God Who has revealed Himself through His Word to men, through His prophets, through the Law, and through Jesus Christ. If you believe in a false god, you are not a Christian, no matter how sincere you are or how well you behave. [1]

Then there is the matter of Truth. You must believe that truth exists, and that it is knowable, because Jesus declared that the Father requires men to worship Him in spirit and in truth. If there is no truth, or it cannot be known, we are unable to obey God’s clear requirement for worship. [2]

Who Is Jesus?

Isaiah 44:6   “Thus says YHWH the King of Israel 1, and 2 His Redeemer, YHWH of Hosts 3, “I am the first and I am the last 4, and beside me there is no Elohyim.” 5

1.         The “King of Israel” or the “King of the Jews”:

Mt 2:2        “He who is born king of the Jews” = Jesus

Mt 21:5      “… thy King comes to you, meek and sitting on a donkey…” regarding Jesus fulfilling the prophecy of Zechariah 9:9: “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem . Behold your king comes to you, He is just and having salvation, lowly and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt, the foal of an ass.”

Mt 25:31-46     “The Son of Man shall come in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, and He shall sit upon the thr...

Christmas Meditation 1

Political and social unrest dominate the news , and economic distress grips the entire world. People are easily overcome with a sense of hopelessness and fear. As we approach Christmas this year, it seems appropriate to refocus our attention on the reason we celebrate at all. Christ entered history in times like ours: the Mediterranean world was under the occupation of the brutal Roman Empire. Corruption and abuse abounded. Taxes were high, the common man oppressed, the ruling powers capricious and often malevolent. Citizens were disillusioned; the nation of Israel had lost sight of their calling, having lost sight of the God Who had called them. The effects of wide-spread paganism were superstition, devaluation of life, and a lack of natural affection among men.

I wish to offer you a medi...

Christmas Meditation 2

That He gave His only begotten Son:

A twig comes forth from the stem of Jesse, and a Branch from his roots shall be fruitful. The Spirit of YHWH rests upon Him: the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the YHWH; He delights in the fear of the Lord. He shall not judge after the sight of His eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of His ears, but with righteousness shall He judge the poor, and corrects with equity the meek of the earth, and He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth and with the breath of His lips shall He slay the wicked. And righteousness shall be the belt of His loins and faithfulness the belt of His heart.” Is 11:1

“Behold the angel of the Lord appeared to [Joseph] in a dream, saying ‘...

Christmas Meditation 3

“But you Bethlehem Ephratah, little among the thousands of Judah; from you shall He come forth for Me, to be ruler in Israel, and his goings-forth are from of old, from the days of eternity.” Micah 5:2

“And she brought forth her firstborn son, and swaddled Him and laid Him in a manger because there was no room for them in the inn.

And shepherds were in the same region, staying in the field, and keeping night-watch over their flock. And lo, an angel of the Lord stood by them, and glory of the Lord shone around them, and they feared a great fear. And the angel said unto them, “Fear not! For look, I bring you good news of great joy, which shall be to all people. For to you was born today a Saviour Who is Christ the Lord, in the city of David...

Christmas Meditation 4

“In the beginning was the Word. And the Word was with God, and the Word was God. This same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made.

In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not. John 1:1-5

There was a man sent from God whose name was John. This same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was to bear witness of that Light, that was the True Light which enlightens everyone who comes into the world. John 1:6-9

That whosoever believes on Him should not perish, but have  everlasting life.

“He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, ...

Christmas Meditation 5

“I, Jesus, have sent mine angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the root and offspring of David, the bright and morning star.”   Rev 22:16

“Ho, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters, and he who has no money; come, buy, and eat! Yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for what does not satisfy? Listen! Listen to Me, and eat what is good, and your soul shall delight itself in richness. Incline your ear, and come! Hear Me, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.   Isaiah 55:1-3

And the Spirit and the bride say “come”. Let him that is thirsty come...

Christmas Meditation 6

“He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not. he came to His own, and His own received Him not. But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, to those who believe on His name; who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory; the glory a of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:10-14

“Jesus said to [Martha], ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who has faith in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. And whoever lives and has faith in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?'” John 11:25-26
